As DM candidates you will also gather valuable theoretical knowledge in Physic, Physiology and Professional Divemaster conduct that will allow you to plan, manage and execute group dives from both boat and shore with all manner of certified diver. -
Assistant Instructor Course
The Assistant Instructor Course (AI) builds on what you learnt during your DM course taking the practical training to a new level where you actually start teaching students the basics of diving both in the classroom and pool. During the AI course your instructor will teach you to prepare and deliver lessons in the pool and classroom as well as honing general dive management skills. Although you will not be able to independently instruct the whole open water diver course you will be able to complete knowledge development with Open Water Students as well assisting instructors in the pool and ocean. As an AI you will be able to independently conduct the Inactive Diver and Skin Diver programs, and with a little extra training you will also be able to independently conduct the following specialty diver programs:

You will learn about the SDI teaching standards and how to follow them. You trainer will put you through simulated teaching scenarios and give you the skills to not only deal with them safely and professionally but to also make sure that the students will learn and be confident afterwards. This course is not assesed by your instructor, when your instructor feels you are ready he will arrange for you to complete and instructor exam with an independent SDI instructor examiner. After successful completion and examination you will be certified to teach Open water, Advanced Adventure, rescue and divemaster programs. And with a little more training you can teach most of the SDI specialty programs.
